Public Key

Définition

A public key is a cryptographic code that is paired with a private key in public-key cryptography, commonly used in cryptocurrency systems. It is derived from the private key through a complex mathematical algorithm and is designed to be shared openly. The public key allows users to receive cryptocurrency transactions and verify digital signatures. When someone sends cryptocurrency to a recipient, they use the recipient's public key as the destination address. Although the public key is shared publicly, it cannot be used to access or spend the funds; this requires the private key. The relationship between the public and private keys ensures the security and integrity of the transaction process, as only the holder of the private key can authorize the transfer of the associated cryptocurrency.
